Truth and Reconciliation Day - September 30

The Chilliwack School District acknowledges the lasting harm done to Indigenous people and communities by Canada’s residential school indoctrination agenda and other policies of the Indian Act that aimed to eliminate First Nations culture and assimilate Indigenous peoples into Euro-Canadian society. We are committed to truth, reconciliation, and healing to create equitable education and understanding for all. Only through recognizing the reality of our nation’s past can we hope to do better for the youth of today and tomorrow. We encourage all staff and students to wear an orange shirt on Friday and to engage in community activities and learning opportunities this weekend to deepen understanding and gain further knowledge about our history and what we can do to move forward to a future free of racism.

Chilliwack School District schools and sites are CLOSED ON MONDAY OCTOBER 2 in observance of the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation.
