Have a Safe and Happy Halloween!
October 29, 2026
The Chilliwack School District wishes a happy Halloween to students and families who are celebrating this weekend!
District staff are working with our community partners including the City of Chilliwack, RCMP, Chilliwack Fire Department, and Griffin Security to monitor school sites and to promote student safety over the weekend. As always, school properties are closed from dusk to dawn.
Safety tips
The RCMP is sharing Halloween safety tips for families:
- Wear a light-coloured or bright costume, reflective tape or arm bands to heighten visibility.
- Select a costume that is constructed from flame-retardant materials.
- Stay on the sidewalks (If there is no sidewalk, walk on the left-hand side of the street facing traffic).
- Walk in groups and stay together.
- Never enter a house; only accept treats at the front door.

Fireworks and firecrackers
Fireworks can cause damage to schools and sites. We want to remind community members that in accordance with the City of Chilliwack’s Fireworks Regulation Bylaw, the use of fireworks and firecrackers is illegal within the City of Chilliwack.
After Halloween: Prepare for darker mornings
B.C. adopted permanent daylight-saving time in March. This means that British Columbians will not turn our clocks back this weekend. Earlier this week, we shared some information from Fraser Health on how to support student well-being during darker winter months. Find information on permanent daylight-saving time on our website.
