Reading • Writing • Math • Movement
Give your soon-to-be Grade 1 learner a boost in all the essentials! This playful, active program strengthens early reading, writing, and numeracy skills through hands-on activities, games, and movement breaks designed just for young learners.Kids build confidence, practice foundational skills, and burn off energy - all in a positive, fun learning environment.
Students should wear proper running shoes.
3 R’s on the Move Grade 2
Reading • Writing • Math • Movement
This energetic program helps students entering Grade 2 sharpen key literacy and math skills while staying active. Through creative practice, engaging mini lessons, and movement-based learning, students strengthen foundational skills and build confidence heading into the new school year.
Students should wear proper running shoes.
Be Fit with Lit (Grade 2) / (Grade 3) / (Grades 4-5)
Keep minds and bodies active this summer! Be Fit with Lit blends literacy learning with fun physical activity each day. Students strengthen reading and writing skills, explore great books, and enjoy movement-based games and fitness breaks that make learning dynamic and enjoyable. A great way to stay sharp academically while having summer fun.
Students should wear proper running shoes.
Coding for Kids (Grades 4-5)
Bring creativity and problem-solving to life through coding! Students learn the Scratch programming language and use it to design animations, simple games, and real-world coding projects. Collaboration and teamwork are built into each activity, so students learn with-and from-their peers. Daily movement breaks and activities help keep the day balanced and engaging.
Students should wear proper running shoes.
Indigenous Summer Learning Program (Grades 1-5)
Open to all students with priority given to Indigenous Students in Grades 1-5 (for the 2026-27 school year). (First Nations Status, Non-Status, Metis, Inuit) This fun, active program invites children to learn through outdoor exploration, community connections, and hands-on cultural activities. Guided by the First Peoples Principles of Learning, students build literacy and numeracy skills while staying active, curious, and engaged. It’s a joyful way for kids to learn, move, and connect with culture—so comfy running shoes are a must!

Learning English as an Additional Language (ELL) (Grades 1-5)
This warm, supportive program is designed for students whose first language is not English, including newcomers, international students, and students currently receiving ELL support. Children build skills in speaking, listening, reading, and writing through games, stories, hands-on activities, and meaningful communication opportunities.
Math on the Move (Grades 2-3) / (Grades 4-5)
Build math skills while staying active! This engaging program reviews essential numeracy concepts, strengthens problem-solving skills, and helps students feel confident heading into the next grade. Students learn through games, hands-on practice, and movement-based activities that make math meaningful and fun.
Students should wear proper running shoes.
Outdoor Adventures – Little Mountain Elementary School (Grades 2-3) / (Grades 4-5)
Learning comes alive outdoors! Students explore local natural spaces, engage in hands-on activities, and discover how literacy and numeracy connect to the world around them. Rain or shine, students develop curiosity, teamwork, and a deeper appreciation for nature. Two classroom days allow for reflection and project work. On the final day, students share their discoveries with classmates and families.

Elementary Agriculture Program (Grades 3-5)
In this course, students will learn about local agriculture through fun, hands-on activities. They’ll spend time growing food, caring for plants, and exploring where our food comes from. The course blends concepts from Science, Social Studies, and ADST in a way that feels natural and engaging. Students will also bring home some of the foods they grow, giving families a chance to enjoy and cook with the harvest together.

MIDDLE SCHOOL PROGRAM (Grades 6-9)
Dates: Monday July 6 - Friday July 17

Applied Design Skills and Technology (ADST) (Grades 6-9)
A hands-on introduction to the world of building, creating, and designing! Students learn to safely use basic hand and power tools while completing small take-home projects. Collaboration, problem solving, and responsible tool use are emphasized-fundamental skills for all trades. Each day includes both shop time and physical activity.
Band (Grades 6-9)
For students who love music-or want to try something new! This course gives students the chance to learn a band instrument, rehearse with others, and develop musical skills in a supportive environment. Prior experience is helpful but not required. Students must own, buy, or rent an instrument.
Digital Literacy and Coding (Grades 6-9)
Students dive into coding and computational thinking through hands-on, collaborative projects. They experiment with digital tools, learn problem-solving strategies, and participate in peer-based learning-just like real programmers. Each day includes both digital learning and physical activity for a balanced experience.
Fine Arts (Grades 6-9)
This vibrant, creativity-centred class invites students to explore drawing, painting, and design while learning the principles of visual art. Whether your child is brand new to art or already passionate, this fun and supportive environment helps young artists grow their confidence and expressive skills.
French Immersion (Grades 6-8)
Perfect for current French Immersion students looking to strengthen conversational skills, expand vocabulary, and build confidence in speaking and literacy. Through games, improvisation, dialogue, and interactive activities, students boost pronunciation, fluency, and comprehension.
Open to non-francophone students who have already completed a minimum of one year of middle years French Immersion. This course builds upon the French foundational skills developed in both Early French Immersion and Late French Immersion Grade 6 and 7.
Indigenous Storytelling & Place-Based Learning (Grades 6-9)
Open to all students with priority given to Indigenous Learners in Grades 6-9 (for the 2026-27 school year). (First Nations Status, Non-Status, Metis, Inuit). Join us for an exciting, hands-on learning experience that brings language and literacy to life through Indigenous culture and oral storytelling. Guided by the First Peoples Principles of Learning, this course invites students to explore stories, traditions, and cultural activities in a fun, outdoor, and play-based environment. Students will build confidence in literacy skills while making new friends, connecting with Indigenous ways of knowing, and enjoying meaningful time outdoors.

Level 1: Introduction to Photography (Grades 6-9)
A perfect starting point for curious young photographers! Students learn the basics of photography-composition, lighting, perspective-and build confidence through photo walks, creative challenges, and hands-on activities. Every student creates a small portfolio and participates in a group exhibition.
Level 2: Artistic Photography (Grades 7-9)
This advanced course helps students explore photography as a creative art form. Through place-based photo walks, studio projects, and guided reflection, students experiment with composition, mood, colour, and storytelling. Students create a curated portfolio and may participate in a digital or in-person showcase.
Priority is given to students who completed the 2025 Level 1 Course.

Performing Arts (Grades 6-9)
Creativity takes center stage! Students explore acting, singing, dance, improvisation, character development, and stage movement while building confidence and collaboration skills. Over two weeks, students prepare a mini musical performance for family and friends. Homework includes practicing lines and music. Perfect for any student who loves performing or wants to try something new!
Sustainable Vegetable Production (Grades 6-8)
Students will be taught about food production through practical, hands-on experiences. Students will learn skills in land preparation, planning, weed control, pest management, fertilizing, pruning, harvesting, marketing and sales and culinary opportunities. Students work alongside community partners who are specialists in the various commodities grown. Students will take food home on harvest days and be encouraged to prepare and eat the food grown with their families.

SECONDARY REPAIR COURSES (Grades 9-12)

Description
These courses are only available for students in grades 9-12 who have previously taken the course and have not received a PASSING mark in that course (35%-49%).
* Students may register for up to TWO Secondary Repair courses.
SD33 will update the home school if a student meets the learning outcomes of the Repair Course and receives a passing grade. The homeschool will use this information to make the appropriate placement for the 2026/27 school year.
Attendance
High school credit courses are intensive and move at an accelerated pace. Completing a full course within four weeks requires a serious commitment. Students should expect:
- 4 hours of class daily
- Regular homework
- Full, consistent attendance
Students are expected to attend every day, arrive on time, and be prepared to work and participate fully throughout their Summer Learning class or program.
Planned or extended absences cannot be accommodated for any reason, including but not limited to work, vacations, sporting events, games/practices, family commitments, or festivals.
Families will be contacted after the first absence. After three absences, the student will be withdrawn from the course unless a formal plan has been developed among the student, teacher, and family and approved by the Summer Learning PVP Team.

These courses are intended for students under age 19 on July 1, 2026, who have not yet graduated and want to:
- Earn credits toward their high school graduation
- Re-take a course to improve their mark
- Complete a prerequisite needed for a post-secondary program
Students may register for ONE Full Credit Course, and successful completion earns 4 graduation credits.
These courses are a great opportunity for students to stay engaged, build confidence, and keep momentum toward their academic goals.

Entrepreneurship & Marketing 10
In a world filled with influencers, targeted ads, and constant media messaging, it’s more important than ever for students to understand how marketing really works. Entrepreneurship & Marketing 10 helps students become smart, informed consumers while introducing them to the exciting world of business. Through real-world examples—like influencer culture, public relations, viral marketing, and even the rise of creators such as Mr. Beast—students learn how companies capture attention, shape trends, and sell products. This course empowers students to think critically, understand the strategies behind what they see online, and explore their own creative ideas for branding and advertising. A great choice for curious students who enjoy innovation, media, or business!
Jewellery Making 10
Jewellery Making 10 is a hands-on, creative course perfect for students who love art, design, and working with their hands. In a supportive studio environment, students learn the essentials of jewellery and metal artistry—how to safely use tools, cut and shape metal, form wire, and create unique, wearable pieces. Projects encourage creativity and confidence as students move through the full design process: plan → create → test → refine. Every student leaves with pieces they can proudly wear or gift. This course welcomes all skill levels:
- Beginners learn foundational techniques step by step.
- Returning students can stretch their creativity with more advanced projects.
- A wonderful option for artistic students or anyone looking for a fun, skill-building summer experience.
Performing Arts (Grades 10-12)
Creativity takes center stage! Students explore stage craft through acting, singing, dance, improvisation, character development, and stage movement. They will build confidence, collaboration skills, make friends and have a lot of fun. Over two weeks, students prepare a short musical theatre workshop performance for family and friends. Required homework includes practicing lines, choreography and music. Perfect for secondary students who love performing and want to further develop musical theatre skills in a two week summer program. Having some previous experience in music/dance or acting is an asset but not a prerequisite. Come join the wonderful world of performing arts!
Sustainable Vegetable Production Grades 9-12
Students will learn food production skills through hands-on activities in the garden and with local community partners. They will explore land preparation, crop planning, pest and weed management, fertilizing, pruning, harvesting, and basic culinary preparation. Students will take home food on harvest days and be encouraged to cook and enjoy what they’ve grown with their families. Marketing and sales opportunities within the local food system will also be introduced.
